Sátyra is from a small town Serrinha in rural Bahia, Brazil. A tomboy who loved to play football all day discovered her father’s guitar when she was 12 years old. Sátyra would pick it up and play. Her father saw she had a good right hand and taught her 3 chords; she was hooked! From then on Sátyra spent her days in her room playing her father’s guitar and singing. Although driving her mother crazy for not helping at home her mother gave her money to buy magazines that had lyrics and notes to practice. The music in the region was "sertanejo" Brazilian country. By 13 she joined a band and her mother’s stress increased. Sátyra was the guitarist until she became 17 and her cousin tricked her into singing. They had a gig at a bar and the cousin said he couldn’t make it, so she had to play and sing, so she did! She nailed it and from then on, she was a singer with a guitar!
